DIY Homemade Disinfectant Spray with Essential Oils

A good disinfectant to sanitize the home environment must contain anti-bacterial substances that can limit the bacterial load present in the house.

  • 500 ml of water
  • 20 ml of vinegar or ethyl alcohol
  • 25 drops of essential oil of tea tree
  • 25 drops of essential oil of lavender, geranium, lemon, eucalyptus

  • 833 ml of 96% ethyl alcohol
  • 42 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide
  • 15 ml of 98% glycerin (glycerol)
  • distilled (or boiled) water to reach the liter
  • Plastic or glass container
  • Plastic, wooden, or metal ladles

Before using this anti-bacterial solution for hands, the bottles with the prepared disinfectant must be put to rest for about 72 hours away from heat sources in order to eliminate any spores present in alcohol or containers.

Laundry disinfectant

You can prepare an excellent laundry disinfectant at home without resorting to industrial chemicals that damage the environment.

The main ingredient is sodium bicarbonate, which, in addition to sanitizing the laundry, can be a valid whitener.

To counteract the bacteria that form in the washing machine or in the clothes to be washed, you can use lemon essential oil together with white vinegar.

In case the pungent smell of vinegar bothers you, you can also use apple cider vinegar.

Tea tree oil, on the other hand, is an excellent disinfectant, to be also used for handwashing. It is advisable to mix a few drops in the baking soda and vinegar.
